Our goal at EBA is to give all of our dancers and their families the best experience they can possibly have, and even though EBA may look like a well oiled machine, there are many, many different processes and tasks going on behind the scenes to make our business as elegant as it is today!

In Week 10 of Term 3, EBA was very lucky to have our very own Miss Tiarra join us for work experience. Tiarra participated in the Work Experience program through her school, Swan Valley Anglican Community School, which is offered to all Year 10 students. We were absolutely thrilled to have her join us for the week to take a dive into the inner-workings of EBA; not just as a dance school, but as a business as well.

Monday

To commence her work experience, Miss Tiarra joined Miss Erin at EBA HQ in Joondalup on Monday morning. Miss Tiarra took on many jobs in her stride, including:

  • Organisation of concert costumes
  • Nurturing and processing new enrolments and trialling students
  • Processing current enrolments for Term 4
  • Ensuring Covid-Safe Policies were being adhered to

Miss Tiarra and Miss Erin then moved over to our Ellenbrook studio. Miss Tiarra joined our Bronze and Gold students for their Ballet and Tap classes as an assistant teacher, and even guest taught the Silver and Gold Lyrical class. This was definitely a highlight for our younger students as Tiarra is one of our Platinum students. The girls were just thrilled to have one of their EBA role models, one of the “big girls”,  teach them some choreography!

Tuesday

Miss Tiarra’s second day of work experience started with a morning at Budding Ballerinas! Our youngest dancers were so excited to have an extra special teacher join them for their final lesson of the term. This was also a great opportunity for our Budding Ballerina families to see one of our Platinum students in action as an EBA leader during the End of Term Recital.

Once Budding Ballerinas had finished, Miss Erin and Miss Tiarra moved over to EBA HQ in Joondalup to continue their work for the day. Miss Tiarra worked on some new and exciting tasks, the most notable being the start of the selection process for concert costumes!

Miss Tiarra then spent the afternoon under the guidance of EBA’s newly appointed Operations Manager, Miss Mel, which was a fantastic opportunity for her to see a different role in the business.

Wednesday

Although our Stage Spectacular isn’t until December, preparations are well underway at EBA-HQ! Today was a rigorous process of ensuring every participant’s contact details and allergies are updated and correct in preparation for the day, and creating the sign-in and sign-out sheets for dancers arriving to the performance.

A notable part of the day was also a visit from Joondalup Police Detectives after our next door neighbours Auto-Barn were broken into last night! There never seems to be a dull moment at EBA, with Miss Tiarra getting to assist with the investigation.

The girls then headed to our Ellenbrook studio for another big afternoon of classes, with our Silver dances beyond excited to have Miss Tiarra there to join in the fun…. We even had cupcakes to celebrate a special student’s birthday today!

Thursday

For her final day of work experience, Miss Tiarra began the morning by joining our Thursday Budding Ballerinas for their last lesson of Term 3. Miss Amber and Miss Chloe were so impressed with how she engaged, interacted and encouraged our littlest ballerinas during their activities.

When the afternoon arrived, Miss Tiarra joined Miss Amber, Miss Aliyah and Miss Mel at the Ellenbrook studio to assist with the afternoon classes. Our Funky Fellas, as well as our Bronze and Silver Jazz/Acro students, were super excited to have another teacher join them in the classroom! This was definitely a great way for Miss Tiarra to finish off her last day of work experience – doing what she loves most… dancing!

We also asked Tiarra to comment on her work experience with EBA. Here’s what she had to say:

“Completing work experience at EBA has been an absolute highlight of my year. I couldn’t believe how much goes on behind the scenes at EBA-HQ! So much paperwork, planning, and preparation goes into each and every class and event at EBA which no one even sees. The office team work harder than I ever realised, and I was exhausted after every day… luckily Miss Erin had her energy drinks on hand for me! Thank you Miss Erin for the wonderful experience.
